Workplace Audits
The majority of state based Regulations require that a compulsory asbestos assessment and risk assessment be completed by all employers and occupiers. There is also a requirement to perform a further risk assessment prior to building refurbishment or demolition works commencing.
Buildings, ships, structures and plant constructed up until the mid 1980's are likely to contain a wide range of asbestos containing materials. Employers and occupiers of a workplace need to be aware of the risks associated with the presence of such asbestos containing materials.
The risk of exposure to asbestos cannot be effectively assessed unless the workplace is inspected and a complete register of all asbestos containing materials established. This register then forms the basis of a Management Plan designed to control potential exposure to asbestos.
